Mississippi Cyclocross Festival held over the weekend (November 21, 2018)

RIDGELAND, Miss.(WJTV) – Children and adults battled it our on the cyclocross course Sunday. For the second year in a row, Mississippi Cyclocross held its festival for riders across the state.  Adults and children were able to compete on different levels throughout several races. Mississippi Cyclocross founder Rolando Román says the sport is all about getting the community together and getting young folks active. Read more and watch video.

Children in Ridgeland learn about cyclocross racing (September 9, 2018)

RIDGELAND, Miss.(WJTV) – Kids in Ridgeland are learning to stay active thanks to the Mississippi Kids Cyclocross Project. Organization/Founder Rolando Román says he started the program to help children find an alternative to traditional sports.

On Saturday, parents and children gathered at Ridgeland Trails to kick off week two of the cyclocross sports clinic. “We meet once a week. We teach them basic skills on how they can feel comfortable riding a bike, how to properly install their helmet, and we go on every week with three objectives.” Román added, “It’s a basic simple task for kiddos.” Read more and watch video.
